In 2012, Dick Morris went on the Fox News Network on numerous occasions and predicted a “landslide” win for Mitt Romney in the November presidential election. He even penned an op ed on The Hill attributing this landslide to his determination that President Obama had “no message, no agenda and not even much of an explanation for what he has done over the past four years.” He continued that Obama’s campaign was “based entirely on persuading people that Mitt Romney is a uniquely bad man, entirely dedicated to the rich, ignorant of the problems of the average person.”
This, Morris concluded will be Obama’s downfall and Romney was expected to stroll into the Oval Office. Of course, Morris was wrong about that and he ended up losing his job at Fox News.
Appearing on CNN’s Piers Morgan Show, Morris admitted he “was wrong.” He explained;
“I had a wonderful talk with Roger Ailes — who I really respect — a week ago,” he said. “And he said in this business, you’re up, you’re down. Nothing is final or fatal.”
“Why are you down now?” Morgan asked. “I was wrong, and I was wrong at the top of my lungs,” Morris said.
“Fox has given me the opportunity of a lifetime,” he added. “Fifteen years, 3,000 interviews. And at some point a great marriage has to come to an end.”
“Is there any rational explanation for why you got it so wrong?” Morgan asked him.
“I absolutely believed it, and so did a lot of people,” Morris said. “Rasmussen and Gallup both predicted a Romney victory.
