It’s back to business as usual in Washington. In their so called “Pledge to America,” the Republicans played politics with their base  The Teaparty,  in an effort to get votes. Among the many broken promises they made to the Teapartiers and the American people in general, was the pledge to cut the deficit by $100 billion dollars  their first year, if given another chance to lead.

Well, after being given that chance in the November mid-term elections, and being that they now control the House of Representatives, Americans are now realizing that the GOP’s so-called “Pledge” is nothing but a political ploy to get back into a leadership position. The $100 billion pledge figure has been reduced to $50 billion, then $30 billion and now, the very word ‘reduction’ is giving these Republicans a heartache because they know they won’t deliver.

As a matter of fact, before they even took office in January, Republicans and President Obama negotiated a tax bill that increased the deficit by $900 billion dollars, $400 billion of which went to Tax cuts for millionaires and billionaires.

And with their plans to try and repeal Health Care reform, the non-partisan Congressional Budget Office (CBO) states that it will add another $230 billion to the deficit. All this increase in the deficit, and their first week as leaders in the House is not even completed yet.
