As September 11th approaches, the rest of the world is slowly beginning to respond to the intended disrespect of all Muslims worldwide by a small church in Gainsville Florida, called Dove World Outreach Center. The “outreach” by this church, lead by Pastor Terry Jones, is evidently not welcome by these Muslims.
Everyone with basic common sense can see the potential disastrous effect of burning the holy book of the Muslim faith, except Pastor Terry Jones.
The debate has now been upgraded to where General David Petraeus, the leader of the war in Afghanistan, has weighed in. The General, in an interview with The Wall Street Journal, said;
“It could endanger troops and it could endanger the overall effort. It is precisely the kind of action the Taliban uses and could cause significant problems. Not just here, but everywhere in the world we are engaged with the Islamic community.”
But the pastor, whose own Bible in the book of Mark 12:31 commands him to “‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no commandment greater than these,” has decided that no one, not even the General and the lives of the troops in Afghanistan or the lives of Americans worldwide, will stop him from attempting his love your neighbor Qu’ran burning moment. In an interview with CNN, Pastor Jim Jones, I mean pastor Terry Jones said;
“We are actually very, very concerned of course. And we are taking the general’s words very serious. We are continuing to pray about the action on Sept. 11. We are indeed very concerned about it. It’s just that we don’t know — I mean, how long do we back down? When do we stop backing down?”
“We are definitely praying about it. We have firmly made up our mind, but at the same time, we are definitely praying about it. But like I said, I mean, how long, when does America stand for truth?” he went on. “I mean, instead of us being blamed for what other people will do or might do, why don’t we send a warning to them? Why don’t we send a warning to radical Islam and say, look, don’t do it. If you attack us, if you attack us, we will attack you.”
“Love thy neighbor as you love yourself,” then add to the atmosphere of hate by burning your neighbor’s holy book.
Love is in the air!
The following video shows this love, already in action. An effigy of Pastor Terry Jones is burned, along with the American Flag in Afghanistan. Later, US troops are stoned by the protesters.
