Tomorrow, Thursday June 10th, Sen Lisa Murkowski, Republican from “the Great State of Alaska” will introduce a resolution aimed at stopping the EPA from regulating big polluters. More specifically, S.J.Res26, a bill that has the backing of 40 Senators including 3 Democrats, would “Disapprove a rule submitted by the Environmental Protection Agency relating to the endangerment finding and the cause or contribute findings for greenhouse gasesunder section 202(a) of the Clean Air Act.”

Sen Lisa Murkowski

It only sounds complected. What this means is that Lisa Mrukowski and her allys have figured out a way to limit The Environmental Protection Agency in doing it’s work – protecting the environment. The sole intent of the resolution to be introduced Thursday by Murkowski would be to strip the EPA of its powers to regulate carbon dioxide.

Yes, the GOP is now fighting for Companies to be able to pollute the atmosphere as much as they see fit. Lisa Jackson, the head of the EPA wrote in the Huffington Post on Monday, that the Murkowski’s Resolution of Disapproval is a “big step backwards.” She went on to say;

“Senator Murkowski’s resolution would take away EPA’s ability to protect the health and welfare of Americans from greenhouse gas pollution. The resolution would ignore and override scientific findings and allow big oil companies, big refineries and others to continue to pollute without any oversight or consequence.

“The Murkowski resolution also undermines EPA’s common sense strategy for cutting greenhouse gases,” Jackson wrote. “Our carefully constructed approach exempts small businesses, homes, farms, and other small sources from regulation.”

“We know that the local coffee shop or the backyard grill is no place to look for meaningful CO2 reduction.”

The White House released a statement threatening to vito the measure if it reaches the President’s desk, saying:

“The measure would undo EPA’s carefully constructed approach to reducing pollution generated by the largest oil companies, oil refineries, and other large-scale polluters,”

The argument from Lisa Murkowski and the rest of the GOP accuses the EPA of “overreaching.” Mrs. Murkowski states that “making policies” is the job of Congress and accuses the the Protection Agency of doing congress’s work when it comes to regulating big Corporations and their polluting ways. Mrs. Murkowski also states that the stalled “Cap and Trade” bill is the reason why Democrats and the White House are so adamant in their opposition to her resolution.

It goes without saying that the lobbyists for these Corporations are in favor of Senator Murkowski’s resolution and are behind the push to get this resolution passed.

If passed, the EPA will have limited to no say in the administration of regulations on these companies and being that members of Congress are so easily bought, their interest will be that of the Corporations that pay them.

So get used to it, Carbon Dioxide is now evidently good for you. More please….!
