At the time he was sworn into office on January 20th 2009, the United States economy was on the brink of a cliff with one foot already off the edge. On a monthly basis, over 500,000 people were losing their jobs. He walked into office with a deficit of 1.8 trillion dollars, and a projected deficit of 8 trillion over 10 years, thanks to the policies of his predecessor George Bush. Respect for America was at an all time low, this too, due to the policies of George Bush and the war in Iraq.

World View

But it wasn’t only our economy, the global economy was closely following that same path to the cliff.

A new leader was needed.

He was voted into office promising change. He began taking necessary, but unpopular steps to bring the economy back to where it should be and because of those steps a year later, jobs have began returning to America. Wall Street is back up in record territory, and around the world, respect for America is back.

The Poll

In a recent poll released by France24 and Harris Interactive, President Obama is now the most respected leader in the world, gaining 80% of the votes. He beats the number 2 leader Angela Merkel of Germany who received an overall rating of 59%.

The world looks at America and see the land of opportunities, but here in America, the situation is laughably different. Lead by the teaparty and birthers, many Americans now believe President Obama is not a leader at all. Their views of the President Of The United States is that he wasn’t even born here, but is from Kenya. They will have you to believe that on August 4th, 1961 when Obama was born, Hawaii knew he was going to be president, so they brought him from Kenya, and forged a birth certificate for him, claiming he was born in Hawaii. They even announced his birth in the local news papers, simply because they knew the “birthers” were coming. The same Birthers and Teabaggers will tell you in a heartbeat, that President Bush was a better president. They will tell you, “I want my country back.”

Back to the days when the President of the United States of America was attacked with a shoe!
