John McCain want’s to “take his ball and go home.” That’s what Harry Reid said after learning of Mr. McCain’s comments on a local Arizona radio show.
Mr. McCain said;
“There will be no cooperation for the rest of the year. They have poisoned the well in what they’ve done and how they’ve done it.”
That statement prompted a response from David Axelrod. Speaking to ABC News, he said;
“You know, that’s okay on the sandlot, but that’s not really okay when you’re trying to govern a country and move a country forward. It’s a disappointing attitude.”
The “Sandlot” anology got someone in the McCain’s camp upset. Brooke Buchanan, McCain’s Chief Spokeswoman fires back;
“Senator John McCain will always stand on the side of the American people. Get used to it, Mr. Axelrod, that’s what strong, independent members do – you’d know that if you had ever worked for one.”
The implication, that the first and only President in almost 100 years who managed to get the Health Care Reform bill signed into law, is somehow weak – is, for lack of a better word, laughable.
In an interview with ABC News, McCain states his and the Republicans intention to repeal the bill. ;
“I think it’s terribly wrong for America and so does the majority of Americans. With all this euphoria going on in the beltway, champagne toasting and all that, outside the beltway, the American people are very angry. They don’t like it, and we’re gonna try to repeal this, and there’s gonna be a very spirited campaign coming up between now and November and there will be a very heavy price to pay for it.”
When asked about the items in the bill that Republicans are for, and whether he want’s to repeal them too, McCain says;
Of course not…
Maybe John McCain is onto something here. I will take it a step further. Let’s not just have McCain alone decide to take the rest of this year off, let’s have all congressional republicans take the rest of the Obama’s presidency off. They’ve already decided that they’re going to have nothing to contribute, so why not just have them all stay home, without pay!
