Glenn Beck wants you to Leave the Church
Now, the conservatives are attacking the church. After having the I-am-holier-than-you attitude, Glenn Beck is advising his followers to “leave the church.”
On one of his shows, the “wisdom” of Beck unfortunately manifested itself again when Beck let his politics direct his morals.
His statement says;
“I’m begging you, your right to religion and freedom to exercise religion and read all of the passages of the Bible as you want to read them and as your church wants to preach them . . . are going to come under the ropes in the next year. If it lasts that long it will be the next year. I beg you, look for the words ‘social justice’ or ‘economic justice’ on your church Web site. If you find it, run as fast as you can. Social justice and economic justice, they are code words. Now, am I advising people to leave their church? Yes.”
As far as Beck is concern, forget about the teachings of Christ, who preached social and economic justice while he walked the earth. Beck wants you to believe that the church was formed on something other than social and economic justice.
Calvin Van Reken and Peter Vander Meuler wrote for the Calvin Theological Journal, an organization that has been around since 1877, dealing with and setting up Theological School of the Christian Reformed Church,
They wrote about the Church’s Role in Social Justice and said;
“Part of our responsibility as Christians is to exercise our compassion and love for others in tangible ways. Christians should feed the hungry, comfort the sorrowing, and visit the sick. “
Another thing Jesus did when he walked the earth was healing the sick. Mark Chapter 1 verse 30, Acts Chapter 28 verse 7 and 8, Mathew Chapter 8 verse 14, Luke Chapter 4 verse 38, Mark Chapter 14 verse 47 and on and on and on. All through the new testament are many passages where Jesus healed the sick.
In fact, there’s over 2000 verses in the Bible referencing social justice. In Matthew 25 verse 35:
For I was an hungred, and ye gave me meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me in:
Naked, and ye clothed me: I was sick, and ye visited me: I was in prison, and ye came unto me.
Then shall the righteous answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, and fed thee? or thirsty, and gave thee drink?
When saw we thee a stranger, and took thee in? or naked, and clothed thee?
Or when saw we thee sick, or in prison, and came unto thee?
And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.
Glenn Beck calls this socialism. He thinks that if your situation does not allow you to be able to get health care, then you don’t deserve any. He claimed to be a God-fearing man, and refers to God in his shows, but that’s where it stops.
Now he’s advising you to not even go to church. If your church is trying to help the “least amount us,” then Beck is telling you to leave that church. As far as he’s concern, Churches should not be in the business of trying to help anyone in it’s congregation, or the community for that matter.
